ZAlSi12 is an aluminum alloy with stable performance, excellent casting properties, and no tendency for hot cracking or porosity.

Not heat-treatable for strengthening, this alloy exhibits excellent casting performance, with no tendency for hot cracking or porosity, and high airtightness. It has low density and good corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in environments exposed to atmospheric and seawater corrosion, as well as in industrial atmospheres where it can withstand corrosion from concentrated nitric acid, hydrogen peroxide, and similar substances. Its welding performance is also good. However, the alloy has low mechanical properties, poor heat resistance, and poor machinability.
