Magnesium oxide-stabilized zirconia (ZrO₂·24MgO) involves incorporating substances with small ionic radii, such as magnesium oxide, into the cubic crystal system of zirconia crystals. Through sintering or melting treatment, a solid solution is formed, transforming zirconia into a cubic crystal. This cubic crystal remains stable throughout the entire temperature range below its melting point, and its volume expansion and contraction during heating and cooling are reversible. It is used in thermal barrier coatings, offering low thermal conductivity, high melting point, resistance to high-temperature corrosion, non-wetting in molten metals, resistance to acidic corrosion, thermal shock resistance, and electrical insulation. The operating temperature is <900°C.
