Chromite powder of 200 mesh and 325 mesh can be used in casting coatings with high thermal conductivity requirements, serving as wear-resistant aggregates. They primarily function to provide wear resistance, prevent sand adhesion, accelerate cooling, and facilitate rapid heat conduction and dissipation. Chromite powder is a fine ferrochrome powder obtained by grinding foundry-grade chromite sand with a content of 48-50% using a mechanical mill, followed by sieving through 200-mesh or 325-mesh screens. By controlling the retention of large particles on the screens, the fineness of the powder is regulated to 0-75 µm and 0-45 µm. Specialized grinding equipment ensures the uniformity and dryness of the fine chromite powder particles.
Characteristics of 200-mesh and 325-mesh chromite powder:
1. Fine particle size precision, with a sieve passing rate greater than 97%. It can also achieve 100% passing according to customer requirements.
2. Low moisture content, dry and non-caking.
3. High refractory temperature. Chromite sand is inherently an excellent casting refractory material, with a melting point of 2180°C and a sintering temperature exceeding 1850°C.
4. Excellent thermal conductivity. Compared to zircon powder, chromite sand has stronger heat transfer capability.
5. Low coefficient of thermal expansion. Although the thermal expansion coefficient of chromite powder is slightly higher than that of zircon flour, it is much lower than that of silica sand. Considering the low cost of chromite powder, it offers high cost performance and can prevent casting deformation.
