A drum dryer is a type of internal heating conduction-based rotating continuous drying equipment. The rotating drum passes through a material trough at its lower part, adhering a layer of material film. Heat is delivered to the inner wall of the drum through pipes, conducted to the outer wall of the drum, and then transferred to the material film, causing the moisture in the film to evaporate and be removed, thereby drying the wet material. The dried material is scraped off the drum surface by a scraper installed on the drum, falling onto a screw conveyor positioned below the scraper, which then collects and packages the dry material.

1. High thermal efficiency. Since the heat transfer mechanism of the drum dryer is heat conduction, the direction of heat transfer remains consistent throughout the entire operation cycle. Except for heat dissipation from the cover and heat radiation losses, all remaining heat is used for evaporating the moisture in the material film on the drum, achieving a thermal efficiency of 70%-80%.
2. High operational flexibility and wide applicability. Many drying factors of the drum dryer can be adjusted, such as the concentration of the feed, the thickness of the coating film, the temperature of the heating medium, and the rotational speed of the drum. These factors can alter the drying efficiency of the drum dryer without interfering with one another. This brings great convenience to drum drying operations, enabling it to adapt to the drying of various materials and meet different production capacity requirements.
3. Short drying time. The drying cycle for materials is generally only 10-15 seconds, making it suitable for heat-sensitive materials. If the drum dryer is placed in a vacuum chamber, it can operate under reduced pressure conditions.
4. High drying rate. Since the coating applied to the drum wall forms a very thin film, typically 0.3-1.5mm, and the directions of heat transfer and mass transfer are consistent, the surface of the material film can maintain an evaporation intensity of 20-70 kg H₂O/m²·h.

After installation, the machine must undergo a trial run test first.
1. Jog the main motor to observe that the rotation direction of the main drum is correct.
2. Check whether the main drum and various transmission components rotate smoothly, and verify whether the steam inlet and outlet are connected and whether the pressure gauge is within the working pressure range.
3. Start the motor, ensure the main roller operates smoothly, and after the temperature rises, add the material. Adjust the motor speed and the uniformity of the material film on the roller to control the final moisture content of the material.
