HOSPERSE PA-650
Dispersant for Wet Grinding
The use of dispersants in modern industry has been widely recognized, especially in industries such as mining, papermaking, paint manufacturing, dye production, ceramics, and water treatment, where they play an indispensable role. Substances that achieve complete dispersion through the use of dispersants generally include clay, calcium carbonate, alumina, zinc oxide, barite, talc, mica, dolomite, magnesium hydroxide, iron oxide, chrome yellow, molybdenum red, cement, and concrete, among others.
Hosperse PA-650 is a branched low molecular weight sodium polyacrylate organic dispersant produced through end-group modification technology. This allows the polymer chains to adsorb more tightly onto particle surfaces compared to conventional commercial dispersants, forming a more stable electrical double-layer structure. This enhances particle dispersion and stability while improving the rheology and flowability of emulsions or slurries.
The PA-650 series dispersant is specifically designed for wet grinding of calcium carbonate. It exhibits excellent grinding aid and dispersion effects, maintaining a relatively high slurry viscosity when used in sand mills. This allows for more efficient transfer of mechanical shear forces to calcium carbonate particles, thereby enhancing grinding efficiency and increasing production capacity. Alternatively, under the same wet grinding conditions, it can produce finer calcium carbonate particles.
PA-650 possesses special properties such as reducing the viscosity of calcium carbonate slurry and preventing the sedimentation, agglomeration, or caking of calcium carbonate particles. Compared with similar products from other manufacturers under the same solid content coating conditions, PA-560 consistently exhibits lower calcium carbonate slurry viscosity, good slurry stability, and better fluidity under high shear conditions.

Usage Methods and Precautions:
Since PA-650 can alter the rheology of calcium carbonate dispersions, its dosage depends on the specifications and grades of the wet-ground calcium carbonate to achieve the optimal grinding and dispersing effect, as well as the fluid properties (such as viscosity) required for the final product. Therefore, in individual applications, a slurry viscosity-concentration curve or a slurry viscosity-shear stress curve should be established to determine the most appropriate dosage. In sand mills, the recommended effective dosage of PA-650 is generally between 0.15% and 0.8%.
In the wet grinding process of calcium carbonate, PA-650 can be used in combination with general fully neutralized polyacrylate organic dispersants or other auxiliary dispersants. The addition ratio needs to be adjusted according to the equipment, process, and calcium carbonate specifications.
PA-650 can also be used for dispersing inorganic pigments, and its usage method and dosage are the same as those of general polyacrylate organic dispersants.
When using the PA-650, you can either pre-dilute it with water or add it directly.
PA-650 is an anionic polyacrylate. During storage or use, contact or simultaneous addition with cationic substances should be avoided to prevent affecting its dispersing performance.
Although PA-650 is non-toxic, general safety regulations should still be followed during use. Rubber gloves and safety goggles should be worn when handling it. If it comes into contact with the skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
