A fluidized bed jet mill operates by accelerating compressed air through a Laval nozzle to supersonic speeds, which is then injected into the grinding zone to fluidize the material (the expanding air creates a fluidized bed where particles suspend, boil, and collide with each other), ensuring that each particle has the same motion state. In the grinding zone, the accelerated particles collide with each other at the intersection points of the nozzles, resulting in pulverization. The ground material is transported by the upward airflow to the classification zone, where a horizontally arranged classifier wheel screens out fine powder that meets the required particle size, while coarse powder that does not meet the requirements is returned to the grinding zone for further grinding. The qualified fine powder is carried by the airflow into a high-efficiency cyclone separator for collection, and the dust-laden gas is filtered and purified by a dust collector before being discharged into the atmosphere.

Product Features

A jet mill is one of the most commonly used ultra-fine grinding equipment, widely applied in the ultra-fine grinding of non-metallic minerals and chemical raw materials, with the following characteristics:

(1)The product has uniform fineness, a narrow particle size distribution, smooth particle surfaces, regular particle shapes, high purity, high activity, and good dispersibility.

(2)The product is less contaminated. This is because the airflow crusher operates on the principle of material self-grinding, resulting in minimal contamination of the product within the crushing chamber. Therefore, it is especially suitable for crushing materials such as pharmaceuticals that must not be contaminated by metals or other impurities.

3) Suitable for crushing low-melting-point and heat-sensitive materials as well as bioactive products, because the jet mill uses compressed air as the power source, and the adiabatic expansion of the compressed gas at the nozzle will lower the system temperature, so no significant heat is generated during the working process.

4) Can be operated under sterile conditions.

5) The production process is continuous, with high production capacity and a high degree of automation and self-control.

6) Achieve combined operations. When using superheated high-pressure saturated steam for crushing, the material can be crushed and dried simultaneously, and it can also be used as a mixer. While the material is being crushed, a solution of the required concentration can be sprayed in to coat the fine solid particles, forming a coating layer and enabling surface modification. Therefore, jet milling can be combined with external coating and surface modification during the crushing process.
