I. Purpose
A direct-heat rotary dryer is used to dry materials within a certain range of moisture content and particle size. It is primarily employed for drying materials that are not sensitive to high temperatures and can tolerate slight contamination by smoke and dust, such as slag, clay, limestone, coal powder, quartz stone, and various metal concentrates and tailings.
II. Structure and Principle
The direct heating rotary dryer mainly consists of a slightly inclined, low-speed rotating main cylinder, a front cover, a rear cover, supporting and thrust roller devices, and a transmission device. The inner side of the cylinder is equipped with lifting-type material-lifting plates. The material to be dried is evenly fed from the higher end of the dryer, while high-temperature gas enters the cylinder through the front cover. Due to the inclination and rotation of the cylinder, the material is turned along the circumferential direction and moves axially as it is lifted and scattered by the material-lifting plates. Heat exchange occurs between the material and the high-temperature gas within the cylinder, continuously evaporating the moisture in the material to achieve the drying purpose.
