Anatase nano-titanium dioxide has a large specific surface area and is widely used in photocatalysis, solar cells, environmental purification, catalyst supports, lithium batteries, and gas sensors.
Nano titanium dioxide exhibits excellent fast charge-discharge performance and high capacity. Cyclic voltammetry studies indicate that lithium ions undergo two kinetic processes simultaneously in nano titanium dioxide, namely diffusion-controlled lithium ion intercalation.-The kinetic processes of pseudocapacitance and the release of stress during lithium intercalation and deintercalation are better managed, thereby improving cycle life. This is also related to the unique structure of nano-titanium dioxide. Due to its excellent chemical and thermal stability, nano-titanium dioxide has a broader range of applications.
Nano titanium dioxide is an excellent lithium intercalation host, with a lithium intercalation potential of1.5-1.6V, formingLi0.91TiO2-B, exhibiting excellent reversible cycling capacity. Interestingly, its specific capacity surpasses that of nanoparticles of the same phase with diameters comparable to the nanowires.
